Ruby Rock It!!

Good morning everyone!
This week at Daring Cardmakers we are excited today to introduce the first of two sponsored Ruby Rock-It dares!

Here is a little about Ruby Rock-it :
Ruby Rock-it Designs was created by Fynmark in Australia in 2008. Already successful with other mainstream papercraft brands in the local market Creative Director Joanna wanted to create a new brand that focused on all the things she loved – vintage style papers and richly textured embellishments – and so Ruby Rock-it was born. “It’s an acknowledgement to my grandmothers who were a huge influence in my life growing up – their tea-cup patterns, their love of all things olde-worlde.”
There are just oodles of wonderful products for all types of crafter's so why not take a peek at their {website} or follow them on their {facebook page}

So here is this weeks dare

*****
Baby Rock-It!!
The products the DT are using are from the Fundamental range from Ruby Rock-it

The dare is to make a Baby themed card which has a 'rocking' or 'moving' element to it!

*****

We have this wonderful little prize back from RRBF for one lucky person who completes the dare this week (Winner will be drawn randomly before next weeks dare is revealed)

Here is my card

My moving element is the little pocket with the removable card.
I also used some of the little wooden arrows and cut up some of the tags to make the bunting.
The cloud paper is from my stash and its been sat on my computer for ages so I have no idea where it came from.

Christening Stars!

So pleased we are having our son Christened here in France.  I recently discovered an English speaking church and started going once a month to their family service.  I also asked about the possibility of having my baby christened and they said yes.  We still have lots to plan before July.  I really enjoy getting crafty when its a special occasion.

Here are the invites I made for this special day.

I love my stars!!  I have made them very simple and used the Stampin Up star famelits.  These little dies are great for all occasions.

I also bought these from The Craft Company ready for some christening cupcakes with stars for decoration.  So as you can guess we are having a star themed christening.  Well he is my little star!! Baby Daniel has now started to crawl and has kind of said his first words which sort of sounded like Dada.  Well will have to finish my post here as I can hear him waking from his morning nap.

I will have a few more bits to add as at the moment I am making a little banner with his name on and also some little favours for the guests.

Yes its supposed to be blurry!!

Its challenge time at Daring Cardmakers and this was a big challenge for me.

This weeks dare is all about creating a bokeh effect on your cards using your ink pads.  I had never heard of it before so had to do a little research.

In photography, bokeh (Originally /ˈboʊkɛ/, /ˈboʊkeɪ/ BOH-kay — also sometimes pronounced as /ˈboʊkə/ BOH-kə, Japanese: [boke]) is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. Bokeh has been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light".

Then I had a look on U Tube and found some great tutorials but then released I had no white ink pad.  So I used bleach instead.  I think I got the same effect!!

I used a purple and teal ink pad.  I inked up around the edges and over the whole piece of card using a blending tool.  I then added some darker circles using a scalloped die as a stencil.  I then took some normal household bleach and a cotton bud and painted it on in circles which took out some of the colour out.

Glowing Neons

Well I think we need this dare from Daring Cardmakers to brighten our day up.  Its very wet here in France.

The challenge this week is to use bright colours/neon's on your card.  Lets bring on the summer.  I am really looking forward to the summer holidays.  I think my daughter needs a rest.  I really want to break out my summer clothes but I just wish the weather would make its mind up.

I have used my die of the moment which is the star thinlits die from Stampin Up.  I make a new purchase and I cant stop using it.  I even think all my Christmas cards will feature stars on them somewhere.

I have kept my card simple and used the bright colours to make the stars stand out against the white and grey.  With a added bit of sparkle!!

June Inspiration Picture

Its the first Friday of the month and that means over at Daring Cardmakers its Elemental Inspiration week.  Look at this weeks gorgeous image.  Don't forget you need to use at least 3 elements from the picture.  This could be the colours (which only counts as one), flowers, layout, the lady, lanterns, fishes etc....

I have used the colours, flowers and the layout which Kathy designed.

The papers and image I have used are from Pink Petticoat. I have also added some black ribbon and lace.  There are also some tiny jewelled flowers which are hard to see in the picture.

Hope you can stop by the design team blogs for more lovely inspiration.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine!!!

Mirror, Mirror

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  I celebrate Mothers Day or Fete des Meres here in France yesterday and my little girl made me a lovely card along with some hand picked flowers from the garden.  She was so excited to give them to me that she got up really early.

There is a new dare over at Daring Cardmakers this week and its called Mirror, Mirror.

Its Sharon's turn to host this weeks dare and she would love to see a mirror image on your card.

I have to admit that this made me think.  I had no stamps that were an mirror image.  So I came up with this.

I stamped one image then I stamped the image again on the back of a clear stamp then re stamped that onto some card.  The outline is a little faint but it worked.

I then coloured the image using promakers.  I thought this would be lovely for my sons christening card.   I do have a little silver cross to add to it later.
